A Productive Journey Through Portugal and Spain

Once Sport April 2026 update

Our recent trip to Portugal and Spain once again reminded us how diverse and dynamic the football ecosystem truly is. From academic environments and grassroots clubs to international conferences and large-scale events, this journey allowed us to see how technology continues to support development at every level of the game.

We started in Portugal, connecting with partners and clients near Lisbon, before heading to Spain for an exciting industry event. The trip then brought us back to Portugal, where we continued strengthening relationships and engaging with the coaching community.

Supporting Education Through Sport in Lisbon

Our first stop was at Carlucci American International School of Lisbon, where Once Sport Autocam is being used in an academic environment to support sports programmes.

The Head of their Physical Education João Marques, talked about how they were looking for something to help their sports programmes. Unlike traditional club setups, the focus here is not only on performance, but also on education and development.

Once Sport Autocam allows the school to automatically record games and training sessions without the need for a camera operator, making it easier for students and staff to review performances and integrate video analysis into their learning process.

With Carlucci being an international school, many students aspire to go to the USA for university. And Marques also talked about how having those videos helps students in the applying processes for top universities.

It was great to see how video technology can contribute beyond competition, helping students better understand the game, reflect on their decisions, and develop analytical thinking alongside their athletic skills.

Performance Analysis at Sporting Clube de Lourel

From education to performance, our next visit took us to Sporting Clube de Lourel, where Once Sport solutions are fully integrated into the club’s workflow.

The club uses Once Sport Autocam to record both matches and training sessions, eliminating the need for manual filming. This allows their staff to focus entirely on coaching, while still capturing every important moment on the pitch.

Pedro Aragão, head coach of the U15 team, and assistant coach to the first team, says that using Once Sport makes it much easier to convey messages to the players. He highlights how there are things that they do not identify straight away, and with Autocam they are able to give feedback to the players later.

Video analyst at the club Filipe Neves said that they rely on Once Sport Analyser to break down their own performances and study opponents. From tactical preparation to post-match analysis, the combination of automated recording and detailed analysis tools gives the coaching staff a complete overview of the game.

Seeing this full workflow in action reinforced how valuable it is for clubs to have a simple, efficient system that connects recording and analysis into one seamless process.

Sports Data Forum in Sevilla

From Portugal, we travelled to Spain to attend the Sports Data Forum in Sevilla, organised by Sports Data Campus and Sevilla FC.

Held at the iconic Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, the event brought together professionals from across the football and data analysis world. Speakers from various La Liga clubs shared their perspectives on performance, data, and decision-making in modern football.

One of the highlights was hearing from César Azpilicueta, current Sevilla player, former Chelsea captain, and UEFA Champions League winner, who provided valuable insights from both a player’s and leader’s perspective.

A special moment for our team was seeing our Business Development Manager, Duarte Damas, present directly on the pitch of the stadium. Sharing our vision and tools in such a historic setting, in front of a highly engaged audience, was a truly memorable experience.

Visiting FC Ferreiras

Back in Portugal, we visited our clients at FC Ferreiras , a large and ambitious club with more than 2000 athletes competing across different categories and sports.

Their Technical Coordinator Diogo Rosado shared with us his thoughts on using Once Sport Autocam to record all their academy matches. We had the opportunity to attend some of their games and see how they are using Once Sport Autocam to record matches, alongside Once Sport Analyser to review and improve performance.

At this scale, having an automated and reliable recording system is essential. It ensures that every team, regardless of category, has access to video, while analysis tools allow coaches to work more efficiently and consistently across the club.

ANTF Forum in Albufeira

The final stop of our journey was one of our favourite events, the ANTF Forum , organised by ANTF and held this year in Albufeira, the 2026 European City of Sport.

As always, the forum brought together a large number of coaches from across Portugal, creating a fantastic environment for learning, networking, and exchanging ideas.

High-profile speakers such as Nuno Espírito Santo and Leonardo Jardim shared their views on football, offering valuable insights into coaching, leadership, and the modern game.

Our booth was active throughout the event, with many coaches stopping by to explore our products, ask questions, and discuss how video analysis and automated recording can support their daily work. The atmosphere was once again excellent, with a strong sense of community and shared passion for football.

There we also met with our dear friend and colleague Paulo Costa, video analyst at CD Feirense. He told us about how at the club they use Once Sport Analyser for almost everything. From opponent analysis, performance analysis to tagging, telestration and even live analysis. The software allows them to have all the things they need, and that’s why they are planning on using it for a long time. They also use Once Sport Autocam for their training sessions. It helps him focus on things that he couldn’t focus before, which is essential for his work.

Reflecting on the Journey

This trip highlighted once again how football continues to evolve through a combination of education, technology, and collaboration.

From schools using video as a learning tool, to clubs building structured analysis workflows, and large events bringing professionals together, every stop offered a different perspective on how the game is developing.

We are grateful to all our partners, clients, and everyone who took the time to meet with us during this journey. Your feedback and insights continue to shape how we improve our products and support the football community.
